Nice SAN DIEGO – A Christian university has withdrawn its invitation to former Mexican President Vicente Fox to speak on its San Diego campus after school officials became concerned about Fox's support for drug legalization in Mexico.
The San Diego Union-Tribune reports Wednesday that the University of San Diego will host Fox on April 7, stepping in after Point Loma Nazarene University pulled out.
Point Loma, with about 3,500 students, says Fox's position on drug legalization is one — but not the only — reason it decided against hosting him.
The newspaper says Fox's visit to Point Loma was in the works since last fall. The school had offered to pay him $20,000.
