The most common negative that I read about this Garmin is that is uses AA batteries, which supposedly didn't last very long. I decided to buy a set of rechargeables for it, but frankly, using the new Eveready Lithium batteries seems to provide quite a long period of use. I have already used mine for about 15 hours, and they are still working, so I haven't had to switch to my rechargeables yet. I was holding off buying a golf GPS because so many of the earlier versions required subscriptions, and some of the reviews were not that favorable. This Garmin came packed with courses, but naturally, the first course that I wanted to play was not on it(small local course). Skeptical, I went to the MyGarmin Web site, found that this course had just been added, and lo and behold, got a FREE download to my machine. The only operational issue I've had with this machine is that it sometimes is confused between hole #1 and #2 at the beginning of a round, but after that, it seems to work perfectly. It even keeps the signal faithfully with the unit zippered into the top of my golf bag. I have found, too, that it is easy to see the information on the screen in direct sunlight, as long as it is at the right angle. Glad I waited for this machine!
